The Inha K-Academic Diffusion Research Center successfully held the pre-training session for the 2nd cohort of the K-Connectors program on January 23 at the Inha university’s 60th Anniversary Memorial Hall.

The K-Connectors program aims to promote the expansion of Korean studies in the field of social sciences, with university students taking the lead in planning and operating their own projects. This pre-training session was organized to help participants understand the purpose of the program and acquire essential knowledge for project planning.

The session included an introduction to the K-Connectors program and schedule, case studies from the 1st cohort, and a lecture on public diplomacy. Participants were provided with insights into expanding Korean studies through a social science approach and incorporating public diplomacy elements into their projects.

In this year’s program, several mentors from the 1st cohort participated to share their experiences with the new participants.

Son Da-hyun, a mentor and former participant of the 1st cohort, introduced her experience with the "Dive Into Korea" project, which provided in-depth Korean studies education for international students. She emphasized that "it is important to offer foreign students opportunities not only to experience Korean culture but also to gain an academic understanding of Korea and develop a positive perception of the country."

Hong Da-kyung, another mentor from the 1st cohort, shared her experiences with the "Inha Global Gathering" and "Meari" projects, which aimed to enhance communication between Korean and international students through cultural exchange and the publication of a Korean studies newsletter. He stated that "beyond cultural experiences, it is crucial to explore sustainable ways to continuously disseminate information about Korea."

Meanwhile, the launch ceremony for the 2nd cohort of K-Connectors is scheduled for February 25, after which participants will officially begin their team projects. The K-Academic Expansion Research Center plans to continue supporting the K-Connectors program to facilitate the expansion of Korean studies through diverse initiatives.
