On August 21, 2024, Inha University’s  K-Academic Diffusion Research Center in partnership with Fukushima Gakuen University, hosted a program titled “Exploring Korean Culture Through Korean Dance.” The event aimed to promote Korean Studies and the Korean Wave (Hallyu) while encouraging cultural exchange between Korea and Japan.

The program had three key goals. First, it sought to showcase the importance of Korean Studies through the art of Korean dance. Korean dance, which embodies Korea’s rich history and traditions, offers a valuable perspective for understanding the depth of Korean culture. Second, the program aimed to strengthen cultural ties between Korea and Japan by highlighting the significance of Hallyu, which enjoys considerable popularity in Japan. Through this shared cultural interest, the event provided an opportunity for deeper mutual understanding. Lastly, the program promoted academic exchange through lectures and discussions about Korean dance and Hallyu.

The event featured a hands-on Korean dance session led by Studio PREPIX, followed by a lecture by Seung-Ryong Lee, CEO of Sarang on “The History of Korean Dance and K-POP Culture.” Participants engaged in both practical dance activities and discussions, enhancing their appreciation of Korean culture.

This program was a meaningful step toward spreading awareness of Korean Studies and strengthening cultural connections between Korea and Japan.
