On August 22, the both centers for International Studies and Korean Studies of Inha University successfully held a joint academic conference titled "Exploring New Possibilities for Korean Studies in the 21st Century.” The event took place in the Grand Conference Room on the 6th floor of the Jungseok Memorial Library. This conference was supported by the Academy of Korean Studies and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and it consisted of two keynote presentations followed by a comprehensive discussion session.
The conference was moderated by Professor Woo Kyung-Seob from the Department of History at Inha University. Professor Lee Joo-Young from the Department of History at Inha University delivered a presentation on "Public History in Korea," while Professor An Jong-Chul from the Department of Oriental Studies at Ca' Foscari University of Venice gave a presentation on "Three Perspectives on Korea's Modernization in the 20th Century and Reflections on Developmentalism.“
Next, there were comprehensive discussion along with four discussants including professor Jung Jong-Hyun from the Department of Korean Language and Literature, research professor Lee Young-Mi from the Center for Korean Studies, research professor Jang Young-Duk from the Center for Internaional Studies and research professor Lee Seung-Jae from the Center for Internaional Studies at Inha University. They engaged in an in-depth discussion on the potential for the development of Korean studies and future directions from various perspectives.
