International Academic Conference for Chinese Koreans in Japan & 1st K-Connectors' Presentation of Inha University

On November 16th, the Inha Center for International Studies (ICIS) hosted a debriefing session for Inha University's 1st K-Connectors project as well as an international academic conference for Chinese Koreans in Japan, at Waseda University. The event was co-organized by ICIS, the Institution of Japan-US Studies (IJUS) under the Organization for Regional and Inter-regional Studies at Waseda University, and the General Association of Korean Chinese in Japan (GAKCJ). It was sponsored by the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS), the Korea Foundation (KF), and GAKCJ.
In the first part, the students who participated in the initial term of the K-Connectors project and received the Excellence Award delivered presentations on the project overview, the activities they had personally experienced, and suggestions for future improvements.
In the second part, an international academic conference for Chinese Koreans in Japan was held. Professor Lee Aelia from Waseda University served as the general chairperson. The presentations and discussions spanned three sessions, beginning with an opening speech by Lee Jean Young, the director of ICIS, followed by a welcoming speech from Gemma Masahiko, Waseda University's International Vice President and the director of IJUS.
Next, young Chinese Korean researchers in Japan, including Rina, a Ph.D. student from Rikkyo University, Park Hwan from Tohoku University's Northeast Asia Research Center, and Heo Jin from the University of Tokyo, gave presentations to share their academic insights.
In the discussion session that followed, Professor Hayashi Fumiki from Kanda University of International Studies, Professor Lee Aelia from Waseda University, and Professor Miyake Kazuko from Toyo University provided comments on the presentations, which were followed by a Q&A session.
"In the final session, a comprehensive discussion was led by Professor Piao Jingyu from Teikyo University. The panel included Xu Yong Zhu, honorary chairman of GAKCJ; Lee Jean Young, director of ICIS; Ikehata shuhei, a former NHK commentator, and Kubo Yuichi, producer of BS-TBS Hodo 1930 (News Report at 7:30 PM); Lee Seung Jae, a research professor at ICIS; and Hotta Yukihiro, a senior researcher at the Kazankai Foundation.
