Visit to the Institute for Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University
and Introduction of the K-Academic Diffusion Program

On November 21, 2025, Professor Youngduk Jang (Korea Air Force Academy), a Co-Researcher at the K-Academic Diffusion Research Center of the Inha University Center for International Studies (ICIS), visited the Northeast Asian Research Center of Jilin University(吉林大学 东北亚研究中心, NARC) in Changchun, Jilin Province, China. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen the foundation for Korean Studies dissemination in the Northeast Asian region and to explore opportunities for academic collaboration with major Chinese institutions.
During the meeting, Professor Jang introduced the structure, operational model, and international dissemination strategy of the Center’s K-MOOC–based Korean Studies education program. He also shared examples of how universities in various countries have adopted the program as part of their regular curricula or as supplementary learning materials. Participants expressed strong interest in the program’s academic and educational value, emphasizing its potential to enhance the quality of Korean Studies education within China.

Particular attention was drawn to the participation of Professor Zhang Huizhi (张 慧智), Director of the Center for Korean Studies (朝 鲜韩国研 究所) at Jilin University. Professor Zhang noted the growing demand among Korean-Chinese (朝 鲜族/Joseonjok) scholars and students for high-quality academic resources on Korea, assessing that K-MOOC lecture videos could be effectively utilized in both research and teaching. The Institute, known for its dynamic community of Korean-Chinese researchers, has seen extensive use of Chinese MOOC platforms—an environment that further increases the feasibility and impact of integrating K-MOOC content.
Building on this shared interest, the two institutions agreed to explore concrete opportunities for incorporating K-MOOC courses into lectures and seminars offered at Jilin University. They also discussed future steps for collaboration, including content-sharing mechanisms, joint teaching models, and hybrid online–offline educational programs.
This visit provided an important opportunity to expand ICIS’s network among key Korean Studies institutions in Northeast China and to strengthen the dissemination of K-academic content among diverse scholarly communities, including Korean-Chinese researchers and graduate students. The K-Academic Diffusion Research Center will continue to solidify its cooperation with leading Chinese universities and research institutes and advance the global expansion of Korean Studies through sustained engagement.
